ICAR-NBAGR Organized Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav lecture on “Pastoralism: Status and Future” on 27th January 2022

A webinar in the series celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, was organized at ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal on 27th January, 2022 through online mode. The lecture on “Pastoralism: Status and Future” was delivered by Dr. D K Sadana, Principal Scientist (Retired), ICAR-NBAGR and Founder, Indigenous Livestock Society – India. The webinar was attended by 88 participants from various ICAR institutes, Universities and other research institutes. Dr B P Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR welcomed the Guest Speaker and all participants in the webinar. Dr Sadana discussed about the contribution of pastoralism to ecosystem in general and livestock production in particular. He further elaborated about the challenges faced by the pastoral communities and provided detailed information about the different agencies that are actively involved in ensuring the relevance of pastoralism in AnGR conservation under the current scenario. Dr Sonika Ahlawat, Sr Scientist coordinated the event.
