Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – The lecture on “Genomics Based Dairy Animal Breeding” was held on 12th November 2021

A webinar in the series celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, was organized at ICAR-NBAGR on 12th November 2021 through Virtual Conferencing. The lecture on “Genomics Based Dairy Animal Breeding” was delivered by Dr. Marimuthu Swaminathan, Program Director, BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, Maharashtra. Several dignitaries, past and present Directors of ICAR-NBAGR, Scientists, students and research scholars attended the webinar. Dr BP Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR welcomed the Guest Speaker and all participants and emphasized the importance of Genomics in improvement of livestock in India. Dr. Swaminathan presented very comprehensive and insightful information on genomics and animal breeding in the Indian context.  He also pointed out that the genomics selection program needs to be tailor made for Indian conditions.  The webinar was followed by discussion among the participants.
