Five days long Skill Development Training Programme on “Basic Bioinformatics Tool for Genome Analysis’’ has been initiated through hybrid mode on 16th October, 2023 at ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal. Total 76 participants of diverse groups including Professors, teachers, scientists, RA/SRF/JRFs, research scholars, and students of medical, plant, animal science fields from 18 states have registered for this training programme. The program is aimed towards capacity building for analysing the eukaryote genome for assessing genetic diversity and unique genomic regions using bioinformatics tools, divided in five different modules.
Inaugurating the Training program, Chief Guest, Dr. T. K. Datta, Director of ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Hissar congratulated the Bureau for overwhelming response for the training. Highlighting the pivotal role of Bioinformatics and its wider applications, he told that such trainings are vital, in presence of voluminous genomic and other omics data to mine the uniqueness of any species or population.
Dr. B. P. Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal highlighted the importance of basic tools in bioinformatics and urged the participants for undertaking the collaborative research for enhanced outcomes. He also appreciated the initiative taken by the HRD cell to initiate series of training programmes in bioinformatics.
Dr. Ravi Kumar Gandham, Training coordinator and Head, Animal Biotechnology further illuminated the rich contents and possibilities offered by the programme.
The program is being conducted in a hybrid format, organized by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Cell of the Bureau. Dr. Manishi Mukesh, Training coordinator and I/c HRD Cell informed about organizing other training programs of advanced levels in future.
