ICAR institutes are celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ through various events and campaign in thematic areas of Indian Agriculture. To be a part of ICAR’s Nation-wide Campaign for “Food and Nutrition for Farmers” initiated on 26th day of August, 2021, ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources organized a webinar on the very theme. Dr. Anuj Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal delivered the lecture on “Food and nutrition for healthy life” as a sustenance to the theme. The webinar was attended by the scientific, technical, administrative and support staff, as well as research scholars and students of the Bureau. Dr Anuj Kumar deliberated upon important topics of food and nutrition in India, including new bio-fortified varieties. He drew the attention of audience on bio-fortification, food safety and way out for their amelioration. Highlighting the multiple health benefits of conventional coarse food grains, he urged to include such grains and fibrous food in our daily food. Dr BP Mishra, Director, NBAGR addressed the relevance of the theme in right perspective for providing quality food, for a healthy society. Dr Sonika Ahlawat coordinated the program.
