The ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources celebrated the “International Biodiversity Day on 21st and 22 May, 2022. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the significance of protecting global biodiversity. The theme for this year was “Building a shared future for all life”, which suggests that biodiversity is the foundation upon which we can build a better future. On this occasion ICAR-NBAGR organized a poster and an impromptu speech competition on 21st May 2022, on the current theme, to create awareness of the importance of this day. The events attracted around 100 participants from ICAR-NDRI and ICAR-NBAGR. These events were followed by a Webinar on 22nd May 2022. The participants were welcomed by Dr. Reena Arora, Principal Scientist. The lecture on ‘Animal Genetic Resource Biodiversity for Building a shared future for all life’ was delivered by Dr. B.P. Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR. He emphasized the importance of indigenous livestock diversity for sustainable development. The webinar was attended by 47 participants including scientists, research scholars, students and technical staff of the Bureau, as well as other ICAR institutions. The lecture was followed by discussion and inputs from Dr. V.K. Saxena, ADG (AP&B), Dr. A.E. Nivsarkar (Former Director, ICAR-NBAGR) and Dr. D. K. Sadana (Retd. Principal Scientist, ICAR-NBAGR).
