The ICAR- National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) has successfully concluded a five-day Skill Development Training Program II focusing on “Basic Bioinformatics Tools for Genome Analysis”. The programme, held in a hybrid format from March 18 to 22, 2024, at the ICAR-NBAGR campus in Karnal, aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills for designing primers, sequence data editing and submission, phylogeny, haplotype analysis from SNP data, gene expression through real – time PCR, genome browsing and gene editing.
The training program attracted a total of 50 participants from diverse backgrounds including scientists, research scholars, and students from plant and animal science fields, representing different states. In all the training sessions the participants were involved in active learning by engaging themselves in discussions and hands-on practice.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. B. P. Mishra, Director of ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal, commended the program’s success, emphasizing its significance and relevance across various fields. He expressed appreciation for the diverse participation and positive feedback from attendees, highlighting the program’s effectiveness. Dr. Manishi Mukesh, I/c HRD Cell, outlined the programme’s content and unveiled plans for organizing more advanced-level training programs in the future. Dr. Ravi Kumar Gandham and Dr Mahesh Dighe, the coordinators of the training assured that the Bureau would address any identified gaps in future training programs.
