The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI, New Delhi in collaboration with Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Govt. of Assam organized Regional Training of 21st Livestock Census on software (mobile app/dash board) and Breeds for the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim at Guwahati on 10.07.2024. The training program was inaugurated by Shri Atul Bora, Cabinet Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Assam in the presence Shri Jagat Hazarika ISS, Adviser (Statistics), Government of India, Dr B.P. Mishra Director, ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal, Shri Anil Ch. Deori ACS, Director Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam and Shri V.P. Singh ISS Director (Statistics), Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. Dr. B P Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR presented in detail about the importance of breed wise livestock census and role of ICAR-NBAGR in imparting training to the State Nodal Officers & District Nodal Officers and also emphasized about the mission towards zero non-descript AnGR which in turns helps in reducing the proportion of non-descript livestock and poultry population in the country. Dr. Raja K N, Principal Scientist of the bureau presented in detail regarding identification of registered livestock and poultry distributed in all the four states through visual appraisal of important phenotypic characters and also about possible improver breeds and exotic cross bred populations. The training program was attended by about 120 delegates including State Nodal Officers & District Nodal Officers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim along with Animal Husbandry directors of the respective states.
At Dimapur
The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, in coordination with Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Government of Nagaland conducted a “Regional Training of 21st Livestock Census on Software (Mobile Application/ Dashboard and Breeds) for State and District Nodal Officers (DNO/SNO) of Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura”. The workshop was attended by about 80 delegates including SNO/DNO along with AHD Directors from these four states. Director, ICAR-NBAGR made a detailed presentation about the importance of precise breed wise livestock census and it’s importance for policy decision. He also emphasized the role of ICAR-NBAGR in imparting training to the State Nodal Officers & District Nodal Officers and about the mission towards zero non-descript AnGR which in turns helps in reducing the proportion of non-descript livestock and poultry population in the country.
