ICAR-NBAGR celebrated “International Women’s Day” from 6-7th March 2023, in a series of events on women’s empowerment and as per the current year’s theme. All staff and students participated in these events with full zeal and enthusiasm.
On the 6th March 2023, a “Rangoli Competition” was organized, with the participation of students/research scholars/SRFs, and young professionals. Excellent rangolis, depicting the contribution of women in various fields were drawn by the participants.
On 7th March 2023, in a speech contest on “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, scientists and other Bureau staff as well as students participated and shared their views extempore (Ashu Bhashan) on women’s empowerment. Some Bureau staff also recited songs/poems on women’s empowerment, describing the contribution of women to the family, society, and country.
Presiding over the function, Dr B P Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR shared the stories of prideful achievements of Indian women in the country as well as on international platforms, despite of challenges faced. He explained the importance of the women’s day 2023 theme that is DigitAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality” and highlighted their crucial role at home and in workplaces. The activities carried out by the women’s cell were highly appreciated.
Dr Mishra felicitated the winners of various competitions and bestowed prizes to all the winners. Dr Monika Sodhi, PS & In charge of the Women’s cell coordinated the program. In her welcome address, she also explained the importance and history of women’s day.
