  • Phylogenetics and functional genomics of Indian livestock breeds.

Professional Achievements

  • Developed quantitative diversity indicators for32 indigenous populations/breeds of sheep of Indian sheep using neutral, mitochondrial and candidate gene
  • Classification of ecotypes of Deccani sheep using phenotypic as well as genetic parameters.
  • Identified differentially expressed highly connected genes in longissimus thoracis muscles of Bandur sheep using transcriptomics.
  • Developed PCR-SSCP basedGenotyping assay developed for identification of variation in the 13 gene associated with wool fibre staple length in sheep breeds.
  • Developed Tetra-primer ARMS-PCR assay for genotyping SNPS in ovine GDF8gene associated with mutton traits in sheep.
  • Evaluated milk fat as an alternative source of RNA from buffalo milk.
